Tag: The Prediction Book Tag

Hello folks! I’m doing a tag after ages. Thanks to the amazing Sara for tagging me. I had a lot of fun doing this!

Next Read

It’s honestly difficult to say for sure. I tend to be impulsive with what books I pick. But the ARC of This Terrible Beauty is calling to me.

Next 5 Star Read

I intend to read The Help very soon. And I’m positive that this gem will garner 5 stars from me. I’ve said it!

Next 1 Star Read

I was supposed to read The Kissing Game a month ago. But the abysmal reviews has me procrastinating and regretting that I requested this ARC.

Next Love Interest (or Character That Seems Really Cool to You)

I’m really excited to read A Murderous Relation – the next installment of Veronica Speewell. Stoker from this series is a great and cool love interest. If I may say, Veronica herself is a very cool character!

Next Book You’ll Be Buying

I’ve been looking for The Name of the Wind in our city’s bookshops for a while in vain. We don’t even have Amazon in our country. So I have to pay extra shipping fees to order it through third parties. It’ll take a little time but I’ll make sure to get it in my hands!

Next Book That Will Leave You With a Book Hangover (and Desperately Wanting a Reread or Next in Series)

Hopefully all the books that I mentioned here (even the suspected 1-star read). But I’m confident that The Help and The Name of the Wind would do it.

I’m tagging:

If you like this tag and feel like doing it, please go ahead! I’d love to see your take on it!

TAG : 20 QUESTIONS BOOK TAG

Tag Time! Brianna tagged me to do this a while ago. I’ve been meaning to do this but just couldn’t find the time! I miss doing tags and really enjoyed doing this one. The questions were really creative!

Untitled

1. How many books are too many in a series?

I’ve read series with 10 books and wanted more. I’ve also read duets which I felt would’ve been better off as a single book. If there’s a story to tell, I am fine with as many books needed to wrap it up nicely.

As long as I don’t feel that the writer is just churning out new books in a series just for commercial reasons, and doesn’t take ages between each book *cough* GRRM *cough*, I don’t mind.

2. How do you feel about cliffhanger endings?

I think if a book can wrap up its own solitary arc, and a cliffhanger is there just to give a glimpse of what’s waiting for us in the next book, I’m fine with it. But if it leaves you with none of your initial questions for the book answered, then it’s a big no.

3. Hardback or paperback?

Both! I have a weakness for hardbacks. But paperbacks are easy to carry when I’m traveling. And I always feel  like something’s missing if I don’t carry a book with me when I’m holidaying!

4. Favorite book?

How do you even answer that? But if I had to really choose one, I’d just choose the Harry Potter series because they’re what started it all for me!

5.  Least Favorite book?

Veronica Roth’s Allegient, maybe?

6. Love triangles : yes or no?

No. Unless they’re written really compellingly. And that rarely happens.

7. The most recent book you couldn’t finish?

Well, I did lose my interest through one-third of Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez. Although I plan to get back to it, I’m still a little disappointed because I was looking forward to it and wasn’t as taken by it as I thought I’d be.

8. A book you’re currently reading?

Valencia and Valentine.

9. Last book you recommended?

All the pretty monsters.

10. Oldest book you’ve read?

The only book I can think of is The Quran.

11. Newest book you’ve read?

Fix Her Up.

12. Favorite author?

There are many. But I’ve been craving Jane Austen recently. So I’ll say her name!

13. Buying books or borrowing?

I prefer buying. Borrowing can be stressful. And yet the easy option.

14. A book that you disliked that everyone seems to love?

Any book by John Green or Colleen Hoover.

15. Bookmarks or dog ears?

The blasphemy! Bookmarks. Although I’m pretty good at remembering the page I’m in and don’t need either of these.

16. A book that you always reread?

Harry Potter. But I have a knack for rereading any book that I like.

17. Can you read while listening to music?

Yep.

18. One POV or multiple POVs?

One POV. Because if I happen to dislike the character with another POV, I tend to not pay as much attention to the story when they’re narrating. And sometimes, I like to be kept guessing about the intentions of the other characters. It keeps things interesting.

19. Do you read a book in one sitting or over multiple days?

One sitting. In fact, I rarely start a new book if I don’t have the time at hand to finish it soon.

20. Who do you tag?

Sara, Alyssa, Mogsy, and anyone who’s interested to do it!

TAG : TWO TRUTHS AND A LIE #2

Hello you all! I’m late to do this. Rebecca had tagged me to do this more than a month ago! I’ve been busy catching up with my ARCs in the last month, and got derailed on the tags. Anyways, this is a really fun tag and I’m more than happy to revisit it again! So, a big thank you to Rebecca. Do make sure to check out her lovely blog!

So since this is my second time doing this, I’m gonna take the lazy way out and not tag anyone. But please feel free to do this if you find it fun!

The Zodiac Challenge

April has been a splendid reading month for me. And I couldn’t be happier about it! I don’t know whether I’ll be able to read as much in May as Ramadan is upon us, and fasting slows my reading down. But I have quite a few ARCs pending and I hope to make progress with them. Happy May, you all!

TAG : THE ZODIAC CHALLENGE

Sara tagged me for the Zodiac Challenge. While I don’t believe in zodiacs but I still like to have fun with them. Moreover, this challenge is Disney movie themed. Who can say no to that?

The one thing I learned from this tag is that Sara hates being late and isn’t a big fan of Alice in the Wonderland. Well, I guess that makes two things!

Rules:

  • tag the creators @bookprincessreviews
  • share one thing you learned about the person who tagged you
  • for each prompt say who matches your zodiac and if they fit your personality/likes/dislikes
  • tag at least two other bloggers you want to get to know better

WHO AM I?

Moana! I’m not as adventurous as Moana. Nor am I as headstrong. But I have a fear of disappointing my family just like her.

WHO DO I LOVE?

Prince Charming! That works, I guess. Because he’d be committed to me just after one meeting. And what girl doesn’t want a committed guy? I’m also loyal to the fault!

WHO’S MY BEST FRIEND?

Pegasus! Pegasus is an extremely protective friend. That works for me because even I have a strong sense of protectiveness towards my friends.

WHAT’S MY BIGGEST WEAKNESS?

Doctor Facilier. I’ll be honest. I watched The Princess & The Frog ages ago and although I remember the villain, I couldn’t remember his name. Meh! But I do also remember that he was a cunning and power hungry. I’m neither. But I am afraid of being powerless or helpless like him. So I guess that’s my weakness!

TAG : POWER COUPLES BOOK TAG

I’m so glad that Sara @ bibliophagist tagged me in this post. Power couples are my weakness. But I forgot that the problem with having read a lot of romances is a lot of couples fit the bill. So I’m just gonna go with my instinct here and choose the first couple that comes to mind.

Fan Arts not mine.

A COUPLE THAT SHARES BIG PASSIONS AND GOALS

Rhys & Feyre ( A Court Of Thorns and Roses Series)

What can be a bigger passion and goal than establishing peace and all that jazz?

A COUPLE THAT LOVE AND RESPECT EACH OTHER

Kate & Curran (Kate Daniels Series)

Seeing Kate and Curran’s relationship start and evolve throughout six books into the a strong one where they share so much mutual love and respect for each other was very rewarding.

A COUPLE THAT IS STRONGER TOGETHER THAN APART

Rose & Connor (Calloway Sisters Series)

These two are the definition of a power couple. They are strong on their own but when they are together, they are simply indomitable.

A COUPLE THAT WHOLLY SUPPORT EACH OTHER

Sarai & Lazlo (Strange the Dreamer Duology)

I love how Sarai and Lazlo are such pillars of strength for each other.

A COUPLE THAT IS GENUINELY CUTE TOGETHER

Lily & James (Harry Potter)

I’ve always found the idea of Lily and James so cute! Let’s just ignore the end but their whole love story is adorable. I really wish we could see more of their story in Hogwarts.

I’m not gonna tag anyone this time. If you feel like doing this too, consider yourself tagged!

TAG : BOOK BLOGGER CONFESSIONS

Fictionnochaser tagged me in this fun little post a while ago. Some of the prompts took some thought and the others didn’t take any at all!

RULES

  1. Answer these questions truthfully.
  2. Once you’re done, tag 5 other book bloggers to answer these questions next.

WHICH BOOK, MOST RECENTLY, DID YOU NOT FINISH?

Emma Scott is an author that I like a lot but her Bring Down The Stars had so much angst that I felt was unnecessary, and I felt so much frustrated with the protagonist’s actions, I just couldn’t finish it. I simply did not have patience for all the noble idiocy of the hero and just the love triangle. It was the case of “It’s not you, It’s me”.

WHICH BOOK IS YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE?

Books by Judith McNaught, probably.

WHICH BOOK DO YOU LOVE TO HATE?

Twilight.

WHICH BOOK WOULD YOU THROW INTO THE SEA?

None! I could never throw away a book like that!

WHICH BOOK HAVE YOU READ THE MOST?

Harry Potter Series.

WHICH BOOK WOULD YOU HATE TO RECEIVE AS A PRESENT?

Books are my favorite presents in the world! I can’t think of hating a book gift. If I ever hate one, I’ll just regift it to someone.

WHICH BOOK COULD YOU NOT LIVE WITHOUT?

Harry Potter series.

WHICH BOOK MADE YOU THE ANGRIEST?

Allegiant by Veronica Roth.

WHICH BOOK MADE YOU CRY THE MOST?

Gone With The Wind. I cried for half an hour after finishing the book.

WHICH BOOK COVER DO YOU HATE THE MOST?

Any book by Ilona Andrews. They write such great books and then those books get the crappiest covers that I’d be embarrassed to own. It’s criminal, I tell you.

So, I don’t know what happened but I had tagged earlier people earlier but for some reason the tags were not saved when I published. Typical me! So, forgive me for editing this to add the tags again –

TAG: OUT OF MY COMFORT ZONE

booktag

Thanks to Sara @ Bibliophagist for tagging me in this! Been a while since I did one of these and this one particularly looks really fun.

The tag was originally created by Emma @ emmmabooks on YouTube.

THE ONE RULE

You have to pick ONE GENRE that you frequently read about… and then, you can’t use ANY books from that genre while answering the questions!

 MY GENRE

It’s hard to pick one genre. But I’ve read a bunch of Young Adult books recently so I’ll go with that.

A BOOK THAT IS AN EXCEPTION WHEN IT COMES TO GENRES OR ELEMENTS YOU DON’T TYPICALLY LIKE

I hate love triangles and books where protagonists are married to other people. Tarryn Fisher’s Love The Way You Lies is probably the only exception where I enjoyed these elements.

A BOOK YOU ENJOYED FROM A GENRE THAT YOU PREVIOUSLY HELD SOME STIGMA AGAINST

I have had this prejudice for a long time against middle-grade books that they are childish and won’t hold my interest. Unwritten definitely proved me wrong.

A BOOK YOU DIDN’T KNOW WAS OUTSIDE OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE UNTIL YOU STARTED READING IT

I’d read it a long time ago and thought it was a typical urban fantasy novel. But I still can’t forget my horror when at the end a sequence leads to a menagerie. I didn’t even know what a menagerie was until that novel! Apparently, there is another edition of the book without that scene. I’m still scarred from that read and almost always read reviews now before starting a book.

PICK A FRIEND WHO MOTIVATES YOU TO PICK UP BOOKS YOU MIGHT NOT NORMALLY BE INTERESTED IN — IS THERE A BOOK THEY CONVINCED YOU TO GIVE A TRY?

Not a friend. But my brother. He’s the one who shaped my literary, pop-cultural and music interests, growing up. He was the one who convinced me to give Harry Potter a try and in a way played the biggest role in making me a bookworm. He’s also the one who made me try things like graphic novels and manga which I’d never probably have picked up myself.
Funny story – he gave me Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban to me when I was 13. I couldn’t understand a thing and gave it back to him. The next day, he handed the first book to me and insisted to give it a try. The rest – as they say – is history.

A BOOK THAT IS OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE, BUT YOU WOULD LIKE TO READ

I feel very reluctant to pick up Crime and Punishment because I feel like it will make me think deep thoughts I’d rather not think about. But I also want to read it so much! It’s such a warring dilemma.

A BOOK/GENRE SO OUTSIDE OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE THAT YOU’LL PROBABLY NEVER GIVE IT A CHANCE

I’ll DEFINITELY never read this book. Incest is a BIG NO for me. I’ve had a couple friends rave about this book to me. But funnily enough, none of them happened to have any siblings. So, there’s that.

Since there’s no rule that I have to tag someone else, I’ll just take the lazy route and not tag anyone. But if you find this interesting and want to do it, count yourself tagged and let me know!

Tag : The Sunshine Blogger Award – Take #2

Hello guys! I’m back with another tag! The amazing Brianna @ Brianna the Bookworm was kind enough to nominate me for the Sunshine Blogger Award this time. And I couldn’t be happier about it! Thank You for nominating me!

Can I just say that I’m a big fan of Brianna and her blog. Anyone who isn’t following her should amend that immediately!

Okay, here we go!

The Rules

1. Thank the blogger who nominated you by linking their blog.

2. Answer the questions.

3. Nominate 11 blogs with 11 questions.

4. List the rules as well as display the Sunshine Award Logo on your post.

11 questions from Brianna the Bookworm

1. Which book do you wish had a sequel?

Off the top of my head – Gone With The Wind. I wish Margaret Mitchell herself had written a sequel. Because I refuse to acknowledge Scarlett as a sequel.

2. What’s one book you could you reread over and over again without ever getting tired of it?

Harry Potter. Not a single book but I love all the 7 books equally. I’ve read each of the books countless times and still reread them at least once every year. I’m yet to get tired of it.

3. How has book blogging impacted your life as a reader?

It has certainly made me reflect more on the books I read. For example,  previously I would stop thinking about certain books the moment I finished them. But now, book blogging makes me dissect exactly why I feel the way I do about a book. I think blogging has also made me grow selective over what I read. I don’t know whether that’s a good thing.

4. Which book(s) got you in to reading?

Harry Potter.

5. Who are three of your all time favorite characters?

  1. Hermione Granger (Harry Potter),
  2. Scarlett O’ Hara (Gone With The Wind)
  3. Charlie Kelmeckis (Perks of Being A Wallflower)

6. Paperback or hardback?

Don’t make me choose! Paperbacks are definitely more convenient for reading. But I still feel more drawn towards Hardback for some reason.

7. How many books do you have on your TBR?

According to my TBR list in Goodreads, the number is apparently 39. *Gasp*

8. What’s a bookstore or library that’d you love to visit someday?

I have never really set any goals of bookstores or library that I’d like to visit. But I’d like to visit Kolkata, London and Rome just to buy books.

9. What was your most recent 5 star read?

Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine .

10. Do you generally prefer reading series or stand-alones?

I have no particular preferences.  The one good about reading series is that I have more to look forward to. The one bad thing about reading series is I have to wait for the sequel. But again, with stand-alones, I don’t have to wait for sequels, and at the same time, don’t have anything to look forward to after finishing it. So, there you go.

However, the number of authors these days – who are unnecessarily making series out of books that would work perfectly as standalone – makes me choose stand-alones over series.

11. If you were able to read one of your anticipated releases right now, which one would you choose?

The Place on Dalhousie by Melina Marchetta.

My Questions –

  1. What’s a book you read that you would’ve been proud to have written?
  2. What’s one movie or TV show you think you’d have liked to have read as a book?
  3. Is there a book that you personally liked a lot but wouldn’t recommend to others?
  4. If you could read books by only one writer for the rest of your life, who would it be?
  5. Which book character would you like to travel the world with?
  6. What’s a book family you wouldn’t mind being a member of?
  7. Who’s your favorite book couple?
  8. What’s the most recent book that you bought / wanted-to-buy solely based on its cover?
  9. What’s the funniest book that you have read?
  10. What’s a generally hated character that you like?
  11. What’s the one place where you could never read a book?

I would like to nominate –

Alicia | Alyssa | DaisyGal | Darina | Lindsey | Rebeca |Sara |

I’m nominating some of my favorite bloggers. Just spreading the love! There’s no pressure if you don’t feel like doing it. It’s for fun only! ❤
