TOP TEN TUESDAY : Characters I’d Follow On Social Media

Happy Tuesday, guys! The topic for week’s TTT is characters I’d follow on Social Media, something I really found interesting!

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018.

Disclaimer: Okay, if I had the choice I’d definitely follow all Harry Potter characters on my social media. But I’m just picking the top three characters for this list.

Ron Weasley (Harry Potter)

The thought of Ron Weasley and his sarcastic and witty quips to lighten up my social media makes me so happy!

Fred & George Weasley (Harry Potter)

I have a feeling that the Weasley twins would be the Meme king and post the funniest prank videos.

Luna Lovegood (Harry Potter)

Anyone remember that one time Luna Lovegood did commentary for the quidditch match? What I wouldn’t give to find commentary like that regularly on my social media feed!

Karou (Daughter of Smoke & Bones)

Karou would post her amazing art and fill my feed with awesome aesthetics!

Calla (The Simple Wild)

Aesthetics. Aesthetics. Aesthetics. She lives in Alaska and would give me travel goals!

Rhysand (A Court of Thorns and Roses)

I’d love Rhysand and his brand of humor on social media. Besides, I’d also get great pics of the gang!

Lucy Hutton (The Hating Game)

Lucyyy! Okay, to be honest, as much as I love her, my prime reason for following her would be getting glimpses of Joshua because I really don’t see him ever getting a social media or being active on it.

Anabelle (Bringing Down the Duke)

Anabelle would be lovely to follow on social media. I’d not only get updates on her suffrage movement but also get to see glimpses of her life with my favorite duke!

Emma (Emma)

Out of all Austen characters, I think Emma would be the most fascinating on social media.

Blair Waldorf (Gossip Girl)

As much as the books suck, I will forever be grateful to them for the character of Blair Waldorf. She’s someone I’d obsessively stalk on social media!

TOP TEN TUESDAY : Characters That Gave Me the Creeps

Hello all! Doing a TTT after a long time and it’s a Halloween freebie! I’ve decided to list characters who I found creepy. Brace yourselves

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted over at That Artsy Reader Girl.

Fenrir Greyback | Harry Potter : No better book to start a halloween list with than Harry Potter. Is there anyone who didn’t find this werewolf creepy?

Gollum | Lord of the Rings : Gollum gives the word ‘creepy’ a new meaning. It also helps that his film version was equally if not more scary. I doubt the new version will be able to beat that.

Hannibal Lecter | Silence of the lambs : Umm, he is a cannibal. And I watched the movie before reading the book. Plus, I watched the movie first and the outstanding Anthony Hopkins came to my mind whenever Hannibal appeared on the pages. Made the read ten times scarier.

Minya | Strange the Dreamer Duet : The tiny childlike woman who can control ghosts? This is one fascinating creation by my favorite author.

Coraline’s Other Mother | Coraline : I don’t remember her name. But I can still can feel the creeps she gave me. But I gotta say, this was one of the cases where I loved the movie more than the book.

Thiago | Daughter of Smoke and Bones : Man, whenever this character appeared on the pages, the creepiness factor also rose up. I could totally relate to Karou.

Pride | Fullmetal Alchemist : Although I found Father to be the scariest villain, Pride for me took the cake with his creepiness factor beneath the innocent child exterior.

Jack Randall | Outlander : I absolutely hated the guy from the very first page he appeared. His attitude towards women only made me wish the worst for him. A true lecher.

Mrs. Danvers | Rebecca : An iconic villain. She gave me the creeps in so many scenes.

Lord Voldemort| Harry Potter: A list of creepy characters with no Lord Voldemort in it? Impossible.

TOP TEN TUESDAY : FAVORITE CHARACTER REDEMPTION ARCS

Happy Tuesday everyone! I’m doing a Top Ten Tuesday after a while. This week’s topic is a Character Freebie. I’m gonna list my favorite characters with redemption arcs. Now, I’ve read more character redemption arcs than I can count. But these are the ones which I loved more than the others.

FYI, the brilliant fanarts featured here are certainly not mine!

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018.

1. Boromir (Lord Of The Rings) : How can any list about redemption be complete without Boromir? He’s one of my most favorite characters from the series.

2. Scar (Full Metal Alchemist) : Boromir could be considered harmless when compared to scar. He killed too many good people for that. But empathizing with him becomes easier once you get to know his story.

3. Minya (Strange The Dreamer) : For a large part of the duology, I felt an immense hatred for Minya. I knew why she became the way she did, but it just could not justify what she did. But by the end, she made a solid place in my heart.

4. Thyon (Strange The Dreamer) : Is it cheating if I list two characters from the same series? But how can I help it? They had the most satisfying character arcs and I couldn’t just chose between these two.

5. Akiva (Daughter of Smoke and Bones) : I know. I used three characters by one author. Am I lazy or what? But, she just writes redemptive arcs so well! And Akiva more than redeemed himself for the chaos he struck out of vengeance for losing his love.

6. Hugh d’Ambray (Kate Daniels & Iron Covenant) : Hugh d’Ambray had a satisfying redemption in his own series Iron Covenant after being abandoned by the man he considered everything. He was a grade A evil a’hole initially and it was great to see his fall from grace and find his feet.

7. Froi (Lumatere Chronicles) : We’re talking about a character who tries to force himself on the protagonist in the first book and then goes on to have his own book. He doesn’t go through an overnight transformation. It’s not an easy journey. He doesn’t become perfect. But he goes on to make you care for him. So freaking much.

8. Rhysand (A Court of Thorns and Roses) : Is it a redemption arc when a character is not a misguided evil to start with? Rhys was a misunderstood hero, to be honest. But when you think about it, this is a character that does a lot of evil things just to keep his people alive and safe, for the greater good. And Sara Mass does a brilliant job in crafting the journey of his extremely flawed and yet well-meaning character. In the end, it’s clear that he’s a marshmallow.

9. Severus Snape (Harry Potter) : Another character without whom any redemption list is incomplete. Snape wasn’t perfect. He was a bully. But he protected a lot of people over the series, even all the while treating then like crap. I don’t love him as much as certain Potterheads do. But he’s definitely one of the best written characters I’ve personally read.

10. Regulas Black (Harry Potter) : Regulas Black is such an underrated character! His arc was so minor and unacknowledged in the books. He died without the world knowing his redemption. It still makes me sob thinking how even to his last breath, he would rather sacrifice his own life than have his servant – a house-elf – be hurt, unknown to the world.

TOP TEN TUESDAY : THOUGHT PROVOKING BOOK QUOTES

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018.

The topic this week is top ten inspirational or thought provoking quotes. Here we go –

“If you want to know what a man’s like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.”
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

“It’s funny how you can forget everything except people loving you. Maybe that’s why humans find it so hard getting over love affairs. It’s not the pain they’re getting over, it’s the love.”
“Wishes don’t just come true. They’re only the target you paint around what you want. You still have to hit the bull’s-eye yourself.”
“And apologies, once postponed, become harder and harder to make, and finally impossible.”
“Anyhow, I’ve learned one thing now. You only really get to know people when you’ve had a jolly good row with them. Then and then only can you judge their true characters!”
“We accept the love we think we deserve.”
I care for myself. The more solitary, the more friendless, the more unsustained I am, the more I will respect myself.”
“I always deserve the best treatment because I never put up with any other.”
Emma
“I had absolutely no interest in being somebody else’s muse.
I am not a muse.
I am the somebody.
End of fucking story.”
“Words are, in my not-so-humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic. Capable of both inflicting injury, and remedying it.”

TOP TEN TUESDAY : RAINY DAY READS

Top Ten Tuesday Time! It’s a blog meme hosted over at That Artsy Reader Girl currently.

The theme this week is Rainy Day Reads. And I think it fits me perfectly because it’s been raining constantly over here for the last few days. I’ll just go with the books that I feel would be perfect read for the season. It might be because of the theme of the book, the comfort I get from it, or simply just what I feel like reading in rainy days. I’m not in the mood for dissecting the reasons for my selection or why I feel they’d be great. I guess, sometimes it’s just better to go with the feeling.

TOP TEN TUESDAY : Places Mentioned In Books That I’d Like to Visit

Hello, all! Doing TTT after 2 weeks. Life just won’t gimme a break. Anyways, I’ll just keep this short and sweet.

For all those who don’t know, Top Ten Tuesday is currently being hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

ttt

  • Hogwarts (Harry Potter) : I know it’s fictional, but one can hope, right?
  • Hogsmeade Village (Harry Potter) : What can I say? I’m a Potterhead.
  • Manderley (Rebecca) : Manderley is a place that I always imagined as scary beautiful. I wish it was real.
  • Neverland (Peter Pan) : An island where you don’t age? Sign me in.
  • Willy Wonka’s Factory (Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory) : Quite an obvious choice considering I love chocolates and I love this factory. To be honest, though, I never read the book. Watched the movies only.
  • King’s Cross Station (Harry Potter) : Are you kidding me? The place where my favorite fictional universe was first imagined? Definitely wanna visit.
  • Alaska (The Simple Wild) : Although, the town of Bangor where the story takes place is made-up, she does admit to bringing to life the wilderness of Alaska. I’d love to visit the place.
  • London (Sherlock Holmes) : I’ve never been to London but reading Sherlock Holmes in my childhood made it a country I always wanted to visit.
  • Swiss Alps (Heidi) : Another place that made it to my bucket list when I was a child.
  • Scotland (Outlander) : Now, the series makes Scotland out to be a dangerous place. But there are no revolutions or wars there right now. Now it’s just so beautiful with all those old castles that I want to visit.

TAG : POWER COUPLES BOOK TAG

I’m so glad that Sara @ bibliophagist tagged me in this post. Power couples are my weakness. But I forgot that the problem with having read a lot of romances is a lot of couples fit the bill. So I’m just gonna go with my instinct here and choose the first couple that comes to mind.

Fan Arts not mine.

A COUPLE THAT SHARES BIG PASSIONS AND GOALS

Rhys & Feyre ( A Court Of Thorns and Roses Series)

What can be a bigger passion and goal than establishing peace and all that jazz?

A COUPLE THAT LOVE AND RESPECT EACH OTHER

Kate & Curran (Kate Daniels Series)

Seeing Kate and Curran’s relationship start and evolve throughout six books into the a strong one where they share so much mutual love and respect for each other was very rewarding.

A COUPLE THAT IS STRONGER TOGETHER THAN APART

Rose & Connor (Calloway Sisters Series)

These two are the definition of a power couple. They are strong on their own but when they are together, they are simply indomitable.

A COUPLE THAT WHOLLY SUPPORT EACH OTHER

Sarai & Lazlo (Strange the Dreamer Duology)

I love how Sarai and Lazlo are such pillars of strength for each other.

A COUPLE THAT IS GENUINELY CUTE TOGETHER

Lily & James (Harry Potter)

I’ve always found the idea of Lily and James so cute! Let’s just ignore the end but their whole love story is adorable. I really wish we could see more of their story in Hogwarts.

I’m not gonna tag anyone this time. If you feel like doing this too, consider yourself tagged!

TAG : Tropes Book Tag

I was tagged by the my favorite Sara @ Bibliophagist for this!

It’s funny that I was excited when I got tagged in the post, but then I’ve been slacking off so much this past month that I forgot about it and had to actually go back and search for this tag! Yeah, I gotta catch up fast. And I’ll start with this amazing tag! 😀

HOPELESSLY DEVOTED | NAME TWO CHARACTERS FROM SEPARTE SERIES THAT YOU SHIP

Shipping characters from the same series is hard enough without adding the difficulty of them belonging to different series! So, no. I’ve never shipped characters from different series.

DAMSEL IN DISTRESS | NAME A FEMALE MC WHO DIDN’T NEED A MAN TO COMPLETE HER

Lisbeth Salander.

LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT | NAME YOUR OTP

Rhett Buttler and Scarlett O’ Hara. Gone With The Wind.

MENTAL ILLNESS AS A QUIRK | NAME A BOOK THAT REPRESENTED MENTAL ILLNESS WELL

Perks Of Being A Wallflower, maybe?

THE CHOSEN ONE | NAME A MAIN CHARACTER THAT DID (OR ALMOST DID) RUIN A SERIES FOR YOU

Unpopular Opinion – Feyre got on my nerves more often than not during The Court of Wings And Ruin. I would have enjoyed the book a lot more with a little less of her self-righteous attitude.

FRIENDS TO LOVERS | NAME A DUO THAT WENT FROM FRIENDSHIP GOALS TO RELATIONSHIP GOALS

Definitely, Josh and Hazel.

AMNESIA | NAME A BOOK YOU WOULD FORGET FOR ONE REASON OR ANOTHER

Harry Potter. So that I could read the whole series for the first time again. Heh!

BAD BOYS | NAME YOUR FAVORITE VILLAIN

To hate or love?
My favorite villain to hate is Dolores Umbridge.
My favorite villain to love is Victor Vale.

MISSING PARENTS OR ADULTS | NAME A BOOK THAT COULD’VE BENEFITED FROM A BIT OF PARENTAL GUIDANCE OR ADULT SUPERVISION

Umm… I know there are books I’ve read which could use some of parental guidance. But I can’t for the life of me think of any of them right now. Meh.

GIRL/GUY GANG | TAG SOME FRIENDS

DaisyGal | Rebecca | Melany

This was as fun as it was difficult! Of course, if you don’t feel like doing it, then that’s fine! But if I didn’t tag you and you still want to do it, please don’t let that stop you! ❤

Top Ten Tuesday : Platonic Relationships In Books

TTT Time! For all those who don’t know, Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by  That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s theme is Platonic relationships (friendships, parent/child, siblings, family, etc.) I’m really excited about this topic! Here are my favorite platonic relationships –

Harry & Hermione (Harry Potter) : Undoubtedly my favorite platonic relationship from any book. Best friends from every sense, these two are the best not-sibling siblings ever! I’m not including Ron because it’s all about platonic this week, and I feel like Harry & Hermion’s friendship does not get talked about enough!

Rhys, Cassian & Azriel (A Court of Thorns & Roses) : I love the whole gang including Mor and Amren. But there’s just something about the brotherhood between Rhys, Cassian & Azriel that tugs at my heartstrings! And how cute is this fanart by arz29?

Jude & Jessica Day (Jack & Jill Trilogy) : Jude and Jessica are siblings who have to start over as part of something akin to a Witness Protection Program after their parents are murdered. They become Jack and Jill Knight. This series might be dark but these two made me laugh out loud and feel all warm. As Jessica says, Jill is the first love of her life! One of my top favorite siblings in books!

Froi & his parents (Froi of the Exiles) :
I’m not gonna talk about who the parents are because that would be a spoiler. But Melina Marchetta writes the best family dynamics and Froi’s equation with his parents was so real and honest that it’d be unfair not including them in this list.

F
lint & Harrison (Look The Part) : This was one of the best contemporary romances I read this year. Flint lost his wife to an accident in a car which he was driving under the influence of alcohol. Now, the only goal of his life is to ensure that his mildly autistic son Harrison grows to have the best life. This father-son relationship was my absolute favorite!

The Baylors (Hidden Legacy Series) :
The Baylors made for an amazingly peculiar family who entertained me to no end. Particularly the relationship between the siblings and the cousins appealed to me like nothing else!

Taylor and Co. (Jellicoe Road) : Jellicoe Road occupies an entire part of my heart. The friendship between Taylor, Santangelo, Jonah and Raffy is just so beautiful! I love them and every character of the book to pieces!

Diana, Josh & Lou (Wait For It) : Diana’s brother dies and leaves the responsibility of this two sons Josh and Lou to Diana. The way Diana became a mother to Josh and Lou without any ounce of hesitation, and their love for each other makes my heart all warm and gooey!

Rose, Daisy & Lily (Callaway Sisters) :
These sisters are as different to each other as Mars and Saturn are to Earth. Yet, their loyalty and support for each other is incomparable. I was confused about choosing between these 3 or the friendship between their counterparts Connor, Ryke and Loren which is remarkable considering them not sharing blood. But I’ve already added too many brotherhoods and bromances here. Gotta share the sister love!

Darcy & Bingley (Pride And Prejudice) : Another Bromance that I just had to add!  Bingley is the jelly to Darcy’s Peanut butter. The iconic friendship between these men completely opposite in nature makes my heart swell! And look at how Darcy has his adoring eyes for Bingley!

have a feeling that I’m forgetting some iconic relationships here! I think it’s obvious that I have a thing for bromances, though. Guilty as charged! What are some of your favorite bromances? Or sismances (Is that even a word?) for that matter? Let me know in the comments below!

Top Ten Tuesday – Characters I Would Invite For Thanksgiving Dinner.

I’m late but I didn’t want to miss a TTT second week in a row! So here, I go. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly blog meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Check out her blog for some amazing content!

The topic for this week was Thanksgiving/Thankful freebie. I’m gonna go with characters I want to invite as guests if I ever hosted Thanksgiving!

Rhett Butler (Gone With The Wind)
– He’d make the guests uncomfortable with his socially unacceptable and yet accurate views. And I’d enjoy that so much!

John Thorton (North & South) –  I’d love to witness a conversation between John Thorton and Rhett Butler. It’d be really fascinating!

Mr. Darcy (Pride & Prejudice) – Add another character to the mix of this trio. Man, all the possible ways a conversation between Rhett Butler, John Thorton and Mr. Darcy could go! I’d sit these 3 together, sit by and enjoy whatever comes next.

Lazlo Strange (Strange the Dreamer) – I’d invite Lazlo Strange over for dinner every night if I could. He’s amazing, okay? Also it helps, that if he wants to bring his plus one, I wouldn’t have to cook because she can’t eat!

Lucien (A Court of Wings & Ruin) – I think Lazlo and Lucien would make good friends, for some reason.

Luna Lovegood (Harry Potter) – Who wouldn’t want to listen to her conspiracy theories to feel thankful about the oddities in life?

Hazel Camille Bradford (Josh and Hazel’s Guide To Not Dating) – She’s such a weird and honest person.I’d sit her beside Luna and engineer a friendship between them.

Lucy Hutton (The Hating Game) – Lucy is a character that deserves a lot of friends. The fact that she was so lonely during the book made me so sad! I’d love to be best friends with her and spend thanksgiving together. It’d be doubly amazing if Josh accompanied her.

Catalina Baylor (Hidden Legacy) – I’ve been very taken with Catalina recently. I want her to get our her shell and make more friends outside of her family.

Lara Jean (To All The Boys I’ve Loved) – Lara would bring deliciously home-baked desserts with her! Also, I think she’d get along with Catalina!

Okay, I realize that this is one weird list. It makes no sense. But I guess that makes the possibility even more interesting to me! What about you guys? Who would you invite to your thanksgiving dinner? Let me know in the comments below!
